What is Management?

Management is the process of accepting responsibility for getting things done, by enlisting and directing the skills of other people, in the most cost-effective manner, and with the minimum of interpersonal conflict.

Management is the art of achieving objectives, through the optimisation of resources, by achieving a degree of order, in a crisis-driven environment of inherent chaos.

The first management conference was organised in 1882 by the German Post Office – and nobody showed up.
